Silane
Dec 22, 2017

Silane, a compound of silicon and hydrogen, is a collective term for a series of compounds including monosilane (SiH4), disilane (Si2H6) and some of the more advanced hydrosilanes. Currently the most widely used monosilane. Generally referred to as silane silane.

Silane, as a gas source providing silicon components, can be used to make high purity polycrystalline silicon, monocrystalline silicon, microcrystalline silicon, amorphous silicon, silicon nitride, silicon oxide, heterogeneous silicon, and various metal silicides. Because of its high purity and fine control, it has become an important specialty gas that many other silicon sources can not replace. Silanes are widely used in the microelectronics and optoelectronics industries for the manufacture of solar cells, flat panel displays, glass and steel coatings, and are thus the only intermediates in mass production of granular high purity silicon to date. High-tech applications of silanes continue to emerge, including for the manufacture of advanced ceramics, composites, functional materials, biomaterials, energetic materials and many more, forming the basis of many new technologies, new materials and new devices. Silane and its unique spontaneous combustion, explosive known. Silane has a very wide range of spontaneous ignition and strong combustion energy, it is a high-risk gas.
